How does CFA Institute currently describe the results timeline?
On its exam results and pass rates page, CFA Institute states that candidates will receive an email notification when official results are available, usually within approximately 5–9 weeks after the exam window closes. Results are reported as pass or fail, together with an overall scale score and topic-level performance for Level I and Level II; candidates who pass Level III do not receive a detailed score report.
Level I and Level II are usually faster
CFA Institute’s support page currently states that results for Level I and Level II are generally available within 5–7 weeks after the exam window. This is a useful reference point when estimating when the result email may arrive.
Level III results are reported slightly differently
Level III candidates still receive a pass/fail result. However, if they pass, CFA Institute does not provide detailed results in the same way as for Level I and Level II. If they do not pass, they receive a more detailed score report for reference.

If you pass the exam
You will receive a pass result. For Level I and Level II, you may still review your performance level by topic area. For Level III, candidates who pass do not receive detailed results.
If you do not pass the exam
You will receive a fail result together with information that helps you understand where your score stands relative to the passing threshold and how you performed across topic groups, depending on the exam level.
How long do CFA exam results remain available?
CFA Institute states that online exam results are available for approximately one year after the exam date. After that point, candidates can still verify their status by generating and downloading a verification letter from their Account Profile. The verification letter confirms pass/fail status, but does not include the topic performance summary.
If you want to review older results
For approximately one year after the exam date, you can access your results through the CFA Institute system.
If more than one year has passed
Once detailed results are no longer displayed, you can use a verification letter to confirm your exam status, but you will no longer be able to view the detailed topic breakdown.
